About

This is a wee entry about me, who I am, and what I do.

Cresting a ridge in Explore Sweden 2009

I left my desk job to become a full time athlete in April 2009.  I moved back to the Lake District where I train hard everyday in some of the most amazing scenery in the country.  It has been a fantastic few years, and I have no regrets of leaving a well paid office job at all.  There are times when I feel it would be an easier life, but they are fleeting, and generally disappear as soon as I look around when I’m running or riding in the amazing landscape.

I am an adventure racer, which involves many different sports, the core being running/trekking, kayaking, mountain biking and some form of rope work.  It has taken me all around the world so far, and I absolutely love it.  Being in the outdoors doing all my favourite sports is my idea of heaven.

I race for the top UK adventure race team, and we compete in all manner of events, from short running or mountain bike races to full blown multi-day adventure races. www.teamadidasterrex.com

I tend to race at least once a month, and i have a major race 3 or 4 times a year.  This year I’m heading to Ecuador to race in a world series Adventure Race with a good friend from Denmark and his team.  A new race in a new country will be brilliant fun.  Then later in the year there are lots of great UK races. The Open Adventure 2 Day race. the adidasTERREX Swift and Stirling races, and maybe a few other small ones.

Last year was amazing, doing the Epic Tri and winning in Patagonia for the 3rd year in a row, so I hope this year matches it for fun and success.

Life is constantly changing, but I am loving every minute of it.  Following a bit of a dream is very rewarding.

Follow me on twitter too, @brucejduncan to keep up to speed with what I am planning next.

  5. Hey Bruce,

No word from the Wenger guys on the HH helmet so please let me know specs and I’ll replace it. Sorry for that, when the naval helicopter arrived it was chaos and everything that was loose got blown everywhere; the helmet was an unfortunate victim.

    Cheers,

    Melissa
