Race Schedule

So 2011 is almost over, the Abu Dhabi Adventure Challenge got cancelled, so no international races left, but  there are a few small UK races.  I am now mainly concentrating on 2012, getting all my plans into shape, and planning the next adventures.

At the moment my race plan looks like this.

Ant Cooper competing in the Tour de Helvellyn 2010

Tour de Helvellyn – December 17th.  A 38 mile winter trail run around one of Englands highest peaks. Possibly the toughest trail run in the UK?

XPD Ecuador – 18th-21st February.  A 380km non stop adventure race in the high altitude of Ecuador.

Open Adventure 2 Dayer – 28/29th April. A 2 day stage race, like we used to have back in the day.

adidasTERREX Swift – 2nd-4th June.  A 2 day non stop race in the Yorkshire Dales, a perfect warm up race for the longer TERREX race in August

adidasTERREX Stirling – 18th-25th August.  A 5 day non stop 500km race starting in Stirling.  The biggest race in the UK

There will no doubt be plenty of other smaller races thrown in there, but these are the main events I have down for the following year.

My race plan for 2011

Wenger Patagonia Expedition Race – Feb 6th, Southern Patagonia, the race is planned to be near the Southern Ice field, so should be in some dramatic challenging scenery.  The 3rd time we have attempted the race, and with 2 previous wins, the pressure will be on even more this time.  A slightly altered team, but just as strong.

The Epic Tri – A charity challenge being undertaken by Ant Emmet and myself, completing the Bob Graham, John O Groats to Lands End, and then the Devizes to Westminster Kayak Race.  Rasing as much money as we can for Cancer Research.

Open 5+ – 21st May: Adventure Race in North Wales

3 Peaks Yacht Race – 25th June. Snowdon, Sca Fell Pike and Ben Nevis, and sailing between them all.

Artemis Quadrathlon – 9th July, Loch Tay. Swim across the Loch, run 7 Munro’s, kayak back down the Loch, then road ride around it!

Open 24 – 30th July – Lake District

adidasTERREX Coast to Coast – 26th August. St Bedes to Robin Hoods Bay, a 4 day multisport stage race.

Abu Dhabi Adventure Race – December.  Stage race in hot temperatures and lavish surroundings.

Plus many other wee races to keep me sharp over the coming year.

  1. Hi Bruce,

My name is John McClinton, I have been reading about your sporting endeavours with much interest. I am a Nutritionist based in London, of N. Irish stock. My particular specialism is sports nutrition. Your 2011 adventure calendar is packed with multiple challenges and of course your nutritional preparation, both pre and post event shall be critical. Have you received any advice concerning this. As you are well aware poor nutritional preparation will almost certainly result in poor performance. Good nutritional preparation is the key to great performance and speedy recovery. If this is of interest to you, possibly we could have a chat. You can email through the website details provided above, or my personal email, also provided. Alternatively I could call you. I

It would be super hearing from you.

    Best wishes,
